Testing Day in Singapore Sports School

Congratulations to Calvin Kang, who will represent Singapore in the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Doha! The indoor Champs will take place from 12 to 14 March 2010, and is expected to become the biggest gathering in terms of participating nations in the history of these championships, exceeding the previous record set two years ago in Valencia.

In preparation towards the big day, we did a test on the 25th Feb, 40m acceleration. Calvin Kang, Yusman, Melanie and Ashiq did the test. Jinglong and Louis joined our training too. Jinglong did a series of 5 hurdles run. He has much room for improvement - he has to work more on speed and his technique over the hurdles. Ash is facing the same problem too, he might not be as coordinated as most athletes, but I can see his determination to learn and fix his problems.

This reminds me of a term that Loren Seagrave uses - " to re-engineer the athletes" and to quote him, " old saying - if it's not broken, don't fix it. New saying - if it's not broken, break it and fix it even better".
